Roxie, the owner, with a dog

Hi! I’m Roxie, the owner of Smith Family Boarding.

Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was five years old, I made flyers and left them in my neighbors’ mailboxes, hoping someone would hire me to check on their pups while they were at work. My college roommates all have stories about me showing up at our apartment with stray dogs. Once I lived alone and had no one to object, I decided a tiny studio apartment was the perfect place for my own 125-pound dog and a few foster dogs from a local rescue. Then I married a man who shares my affliction, and we ended up rescuing multiple dogs and spending countless weekends volunteering at a friend’s dog hotel.

Not much has changed!

When I decided to step away from my cake business and turn my love of dogs into a new career, my husband, Cody, was completely on board. If you know Cody, you know he’s just as dog crazy as I am and fully encourages all of my brilliant ideas—so here we are!

From the very beginning, we planned our new home around creating a dedicated space for dog boarding. We purchased our property and designed our floor plans around this idea, and Smith Family Boarding slowly became a reality.

Our boarding space was designed specifically with dogs in mind, with a dedicated indoor kennel room, plenty of room for outdoor play, and a setup focused on cleanliness, safety, and giving each dog the care and attention they deserve.

Smith Family Boarding is a small business built by a family who never learned to say no to a dog.
